Job Description

Bay St. George Baseball is looking for energetic individual to fill the role of Baseball Coach

Essential duties:
Supervise athletes during practices and competition
Model sports-like behaviour and maintain appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators, demonstrating patience, empathy, and understanding
Instruct players in the rules, regulations, equipment use and techniques of the sport
Prepare practice plans/organize individual and team practice activities/exercises
Assess player's skills, monitor players during competition and practice
Assist with determining game strategy
Complete any training required by the organization
Perform support tasks such as completing forms, emergency information and ot her related documentation, including maintaining player attendance
Follow established procedures in the event o f an athlete's injury; administer first aid if certified to do so, if necessary
Observe and enforce proper safety procedures
Complete work responsibilities in accordance with the designated time frame
Ensure director is updated on all activities and is kept informed of any issues
Maintain the equipment shed in orderly condition
If required, perform facility maintenance, i.e. lime/ mow field, and repair damaged areas, garbage disposal or cleaning up, ensuring safety and security
Work in a team environment/willing to work evenings, holidays and weekends as needed
Participate in special activities such as "The Festival of Baseball" and the year-end banquet and award night
Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications:
Playing and/or coaching a minor baseball level. Reliable transportation required.
Required to be punctual and consistently available for games and practices.
Applicant must be motivated to mentor young players.
Applicants must be between the ages of 15 (before June 24) and 30, must have been in school in 2025 and returning in 2026.
Must be a member of the Qalipu First Nation or Self-Identified Indigenous Person and reside in the Stephenville Ward.
Qualified candidates must have playing experience and an understanding of the game; equivalences may be considered.
Prior coaching experience is preferred. NCCP coaching levels considered an asset.
Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Hours: $16.35/hour for 35 hours per week
