KidsU Counsellors play a key role in delivering a fun, active, and educational summer experience for
campers. This is a fast-paced, high-energy position that requires enthusiasm, responsibility, and the
ability to keep up with a busy daily schedule. Counsellors lead KidsU programs, support hands-on
learning projects, and help create a positive and inclusive environment for school-aged children. This
role involves supervising and organizing outdoor activities, managing large groups, and ensuring each
action-packed day of camp runs smoothly.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and actively engage campers in KidsU programming, projects, & daily activities
- Maintain clean & organized camp spaces
- Facilitate outdoor recreational & educational experiences
- Support the planning & execution of weekly themed schedules
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, & well-supervised environment
- Communicate effectively with campers, parents, & fellow staff
- Stay organized, adaptable, & positive in a busy and dynamic environment.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate has experience working with children and brings enthusiasm, creativity, and high
energy to daily activities. They communicate clearly, model positive behaviour, and demonstrate
patience and empathy while leading groups. Ideal candidates are reliable, safety‑minded, able to
manage conflicts calmly, and comfortable adapting plans as needed. Teamwork skills are essential, along
with a willingness to support co‑workers and contribute to a fun, inclusive, and safe camp environment.
CPR/first aid training is an asset.
Eligibility criteria:
- Must be between the ages of 15 and 29
- Must be planning to return to full-time studies in September of the current year
- Must have been registered as a full-time student in the previous academic year; and
- Be a member of the Qalipu First Nation or Self-Identified Indigenous Person (please indicate
Indigenous Ancestry on cover letter)
- A vulnerable sector check will be required.
Flexible work hours (some evening and weekend work) will be required.
