Job Description

Mi'kmaw Cultural Foundation is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Summer Camp Worker to support
the delivery of culturally grounded summer programming for Mi’kmaw youth in Ktaqmkuk (Newfoundland).

This position is funded through the Qalipu First Nation Youth Summer Employment Program (YSEP).

Position Details
● Position: Summer Camp Worker
● Location: Stephenville, NL
● Duration: 7 weeks
● Hours: 35 hours per week
● Wage: $16.35/hour + 4% vacation pay
● Start Date: July 6th, 2026

Key Responsibilities
● Assist in the delivery of summer cultural camps and youth programming
● Support Elders, facilitators, and staff during activities
● Supervise youth participants in a safe and respectful manner
● Assist with traditional arts, crafts, and land-based activities
● Help with daily setup, cleanup, and organization of camp materials
● Support outdoor programming such as nature walks and cultural teachings
● Maintain a positive, inclusive, and engaging environment
● Assist with basic documentation (photos, attendance, activity logs)

Qualifications & Skills
● Interest in working with youth and community programming
● Strong communication and teamwork skills
● Reliable, responsible, and respectful
● Ability to work outdoors and in a team environment
● Knowledge of Mi’kmaw culture is an asset
● First Aid/CPR is an asset (not required)

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
● Be between 15 and 29 years of age
● Be a full-time student during the 2025–2026 academic year
● Be returning to full-time studies in Fall 2026
● Identify as Indigenous
● Priority will be given to members of Qalipu First Nation
● Must reside in the Stephenville Ward (Stephenville, Stephenville Crossing, Kippens area, etc.)
