Reporting to the Drill & Blast Supervisor, the Blaster Helper supports the blaster in all aspects of blastingactivities. This role involves working around explosives, preparing blast sites, maintaining equipment, and following strict safety protocols to ensure compliance with industry regulations. The ideal candidate is one who is committed to safe working practices and strives for zero harm.This position is located at the Project site, working on a 14 days in/14 days out rotation.Accountabilities/Responsibilities:• Supporting all drilling and blasting requirements.• Maintaining safe housekeeping of work-areas.• Working with various teams in the open pit.• Following all explosives regulations and site procedures.• Attending blast courses and refresher training supplied by company.• Conducting daily safety checks and inspections of the equipment before operating.Education and Experience:• High school diploma or equivalent; or a significant amount of related experience in a similar role is required. • Experience in mining, preferably open pit.• Experience with radio communication and protocols is preferredSkills and Knowledge:• Proven commitment to Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.• Ability to work in a safety-oriented, fast-paced, cross-cultural environment.• Strong knowledge of the OHS, mining, and construction regulations.• Excellent coordination and driving skills.• Excellent communication (oral/written) skills required.• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and safety.• Strong team building skillsEquinox is an equal opportunity employer committed to local hiring preferences and all applications willbe considered on this basis.
